Eastern Passage Locksmith, Lockouts to Garage Doors
Locked out near Fisherman's Cove, or a garage door seized by the salt air off the harbour? We cover Eastern Passage and Cow Bay at any hour for lockouts, rekeys, car keys and garage door repairs.
How do you get to Eastern Passage?
We come down through Dartmouth and along Pleasant Street, which becomes Main Road past Shearwater, or in by Cow Bay Road from the Cole Harbour side. We tell you the timing on the phone, based on where our technician is when you call.
Where we go around Eastern Passage:
- Eastern Passage and Fisherman's Cove
- Shearwater
- Cow Bay
Right on the open harbour
Eastern Passage looks straight across the strait to McNabs Island, at the mouth of Halifax Harbour. Homes along Main Road and the shore streets take wind, fog and salt spray off the water all year, which corrodes lock cylinders, door hardware and garage door springs faster than hardware further inland.
A fishing harbour and an air base as neighbours
Fisherman's Cove, redeveloped in 1996, is still a working small craft harbour as well as a row of shops and restaurants, and the Shearwater air base sits on the community's northern edge. Between the two, we get calls for shop and office lockouts, sheds and workshops, and plenty of families settling into rentals and newer homes.
Lockouts along Main Road and Cow Bay Road
Whether it is a house up from the shore, a newer home off Cow Bay Road or a car outside the shops at Fisherman's Cove, call or text with the street and we come down. For a shop or office that will not open in the morning, our business lockout page lists what to have ready when we arrive. For a house, a text with the street and a photo of the lock helps us bring the right parts the first time.
Hardware that stands up to the sea air
The harbour wind is the reason locks in Eastern Passage wear early. When a cylinder is corroded, we change it for hardware that copes better with salt, and rekey the rest of the house to match so one key still opens everything. We tell you which doors need the work and which only need a clean. A cylinder that has been cleaned and lubricated before winter is far less likely to freeze during a nor'easter, when nobody wants to stand outside fighting a key.
Garage doors by the water
Rust is the enemy of torsion springs and lift cables, and near the shore it never stops working. Fog and spray settle on the hardware even when the door stays shut, so a door that ran fine all summer can start to groan, jerk or stop halfway once the cold arrives. A snapped spring, a frayed cable or an opener that has given up is a garage door spring and repair call we take around the clock. When a door is past saving, we also handle full garage door installation. Next door, we cover all of Cole Harbour too.
Questions from Eastern Passage
- Do you cover Cow Bay as well as Eastern Passage?
- Yes. We cover Eastern Passage, Cow Bay and the Shearwater area. Tell us the road and we plan the route from Dartmouth or Cole Harbour.
- My lock is crusty and hard to turn. Is that the salt air?
- Often, yes. Salt and moisture get into cylinders near the water. Sometimes a clean and lubrication brings it back; if the cylinder is corroded through, we replace it with hardware that handles the coast better.
- Can you open a shop at Fisherman's Cove after hours?
- Yes. Business lockouts are a 24/7 service for us, and we can rekey the shop the same visit if keys have gone missing.
