One long road with two highway ends

Almost every street here branches off Route 213, which links Bedford with Upper Tantallon. A house near the Bedford end and a house near the Tantallon end are reached from different highways, so the first thing we ask is how far along Hammonds Plains Road you are and which subdivision you turn into.

Settled in 1786, mostly built since the 1990s

Hammonds Plains was laid out in 1786 as a Loyalist settlement on a road from Birch Cove to St. Margarets Bay, named for Lieutenant Governor Andrew Snape Hamond. Disbanded soldiers and Black Refugees from the War of 1812 settled here after them. Most of the houses you see today went up after the population jumped in the 1990s, which means plenty of builder-supplied locksets and attached garages.

Lockouts from Kingswood to Upper Hammonds Plains

A lockout here is usually a house in a subdivision with a keypad garage that has stopped working, or a front door that latched while the car keys sit on the kitchen counter. Call or text with your street and we head out. If you are locked out of a car at a trailhead or a school pickup, our car lockout page covers what to do while you wait.

Many homes here sit on large lots set well back from Route 213, some at the end of long private driveways. Give us your civic number and any gate or keypad details when you call, and turn on an outside light if it is dark so we find the right house first time.

Rekeys for builder-grade locks

Houses built in the subdivisions since the 1990s often still have the locks the builder put in, and every owner since has handed out keys. Rekeying gives you new keys for the locks you already have, and we can set every exterior door to one key. If you would rather replace tired hardware outright, we bring deadbolts and handle sets and tell you the price before we fit them.

Smart locks for busy households

With kids, cleaners, dog walkers and contractors coming and going, a keypad or app lock beats a pile of copied keys. We install and set up smart locks on most standard doors, and we check the door is aligned first so the bolt throws cleanly in winter.

Garage doors on attached garages

Double-wide doors carry heavy springs that take the strain every time the door opens. When one snaps, the door will not lift and you should not force it. We replace springs, cables, rollers and openers around the clock. See our garage door repair service, or the page for Bedford next door.

Questions from Hammonds Plains

Do you come out to Upper Hammonds Plains and Lucasville?
Yes. We cover the full stretch of Hammonds Plains Road, plus Lucasville, Upper Hammonds Plains and the subdivisions off both. Tell us your street and the nearest cross road when you call.
Can you put one key on all the doors of my house?
Usually, yes. If your locks share a compatible keyway, we rekey them to a single new key. If one lock is a different brand, we tell you the options and the price first.
My garage door opener stopped working after a power outage. Can you help?
Yes. Openers can lose their settings or trip a safety sensor after an outage. We check the opener, the sensors and the door itself, and fix what is actually wrong.
