How do you get to Timberlea?

We come out from Halifax on Highway 103 and take Exit 3 for Timberlea Village Parkway or Exit 4 for the western end, or follow St. Margarets Bay Road through Beechville and Lakeside. We tell you the timing on the phone when you call.

Nine Mile River, Bowser's Station, then Timberlea

The community started out as Nine Mile River, after the river that ran its early mills. When the Halifax and Southwestern Railway arrived in 1904 it became Bowser's Station, and in 1922 it took the name Timberlea for its forests and lumber trade. The old rail bed is now the BLT Trail, running from Beechville out to Hubley.

Semi-rural until the early 1990s

Timberlea changed from semi-rural to mostly suburban in the early 1990s, and large developments like Greenwood Heights added much of today's population. The 2021 census counted 5,627 people here. That mix means older homes along St. Margarets Bay Road sitting close to streets of newer family houses, each with very different hardware.

Two exits, one main road

Highway 103 serves Timberlea at Exit 3 and Exit 4, and St. Margarets Bay Road (Trunk 3) runs the length of Beechville, Lakeside and Timberlea. Tell us whether you are closer to the parkway, the school or the Bay Road and we come straight in.

Lost keys at the trailhead

The BLT Trail and the trails off it at Cranberry Lake draw cyclists, walkers and ATV riders, and a key fob that falls out of a pocket out there is gone for good. If your car is sitting at a trailhead with no key, we can cut and program a replacement on the spot for most makes. Read more about replacement car keys and key fobs.

The same goes for a car locked with the keys inside at Governor's Lake on a summer afternoon. Tell us the make, model and year when you call so we bring the right tools and key blanks.

Rekeys for older and newer Timberlea homes

The older houses along St. Margarets Bay Road often have locks that have been through several owners, and the subdivision homes built from the 1990s on have had plenty of turnover too. Rekeying makes every old key useless while keeping the locks you have. If a lock is worn out, we show you why and quote a replacement before we change anything.

Locked out at home

In Greenwood Heights and Glengarry Estates, a typical lockout is a front door that latched behind someone taking out the bins, or a keypad that died in the cold. On the older properties along St. Margarets Bay Road it can just as easily be a worn deadbolt that finally refuses to turn. Call or text with your street and we head out. We open most doors without drilling and check your ID once you are in.

Garage doors through the freeze-thaw

Winters out here swing above and below freezing again and again, and a garage door that ices to the floor overnight puts real strain on the opener and springs when it finally breaks free. If your door is stuck, start at our garage door stuck page so you do not damage it trying to force it. Heading toward the bay? We also cover Tantallon.

Questions from Timberlea

Do you cover Beechville and Lakeside too?
Yes. We cover Beechville, Lakeside and Timberlea, including Greenwood Heights and Glengarry Estates, around the clock.
I lost my car key on a trail. Can you make a new one without the original?

Do you repair garage doors in Timberlea?
Yes. Springs, cables, openers, rollers and panels, on attached and detached garages. We tell you the price before any work starts.
