Tantallon Locksmith, from Upper Tantallon to Glen Haven
Locked out of a house by the bay, or need new keys for a rebuilt home in Upper Tantallon? We come out to Tantallon at any hour for lockouts, rekeys, car keys and garage doors, and the price is agreed before we start.
How do you get to Tantallon?
We take Highway 103 from Halifax to Exit 5, the Upper Tantallon exit where Route 213, Trunk 3 and Route 333 meet. From there it is Route 333 south toward Glen Haven or Trunk 3 around the bay. We give you the timing on the phone when you call.
Where we go around Tantallon:
- Upper Tantallon
- Tantallon
- Glen Haven
- Head of St. Margarets Bay
- Whynachts Point
Where three roads meet the 103
Exit 5 is the crossroads of the whole area: Hammonds Plains Road comes in from Bedford, Trunk 3 follows the shore of St. Margarets Bay, and Route 333 heads south through Tantallon and Glen Haven toward Peggy's Cove. Tell us which road you are on and how far along, and we come in the right way.
Rebuilding after the 2023 wildfire
The wildfire that broke out in Tantallon on May 28, 2023 destroyed homes in the area, and rebuilding has been under way since. A new house means new doors, new garage doors and often a smart lock, and owners moving back in want to be certain of who holds a key. We set up the locks, the keys and the garage door openers to suit.
Lockouts by the bay
Tantallon homes sit on long, winding roads along the bay and around the lakes, and a lockout can leave you standing in the wind and fog with the nearest spare key a long drive away. Call or text with your civic number and the road, and we head out. Our locked out page covers what to do first, including the times you should call 911 instead.
On the roads along Route 333 and around the bay, civic numbers can be hard to spot at night. Turn on an outside light if you can, and tell us about any gate, long driveway or shared lane so we come straight to the right door. We open most doors without drilling, and we tell you before we cut anything.
Salt air, locks and garage hardware
Living close to St. Margarets Bay means salt in the air most of the year. It works its way into lock cylinders, deadbolt latches and the springs, cables and rollers of a garage door, and corrosion that starts small ends with a key that will not turn or a door that will not lift. We clean and lubricate seized cylinders where they can be saved, replace the ones that cannot with finishes suited to the coast, and we repair and replace garage door springs and openers around the clock.
New keys, smart locks and rebuilt homes
Whether you bought an older place by the water or moved into a new build, rekeying makes sure only your keys open your doors. For a cottage or a home you leave empty for stretches, a smart lock lets you let in family or trades without hiding a key under the mat. Coming in from the city side? We also cover Hammonds Plains and Timberlea.
Questions from Tantallon
- Do you come to Glen Haven and along Route 333?
- Yes. We cover Upper Tantallon, Tantallon, Glen Haven and the head of St. Margarets Bay. Give us your civic number and road when you call.
- Can you key all the doors on a new build to one key?
- Usually, yes. If the locks share a compatible keyway, we rekey them to one key. If they do not, we tell you the options and the price before any work.
- The salt air has seized my lock. What can you do?
- We free and service the lock where we can. If the cylinder is corroded beyond saving, we show you and quote a replacement in a finish that stands up better to the sea air.
